I have been searching for this set for years. Set of sticks that is!
I’ve been collecting vintage, antique, rare and player sticks for many years. But as a Regal Tip by Calato drumstick endorser what I mostly collect, or what the majority of my collection is, is first year Regal Tip unused or unusual model drumsticks. But these are of a different level from anything I’ve ever seen.
An original pair of sticks from the first years of Slingerland, as a new company. I would like to share them with you now.
This pair is unused and quite extraordinary. What you are looking at is a pair of 1920s Slingerland Banjo & Drum Co. Gold Sticks Purple End with original water decal in their original box with inner sleeve. These are the Slingerland “Fancher Model”. They are stamped Slingerland 1-H on one stick only.
You could order your Slingerland drumsticks back then with painted ends in any lacquer color available, mainly to match your drum or drums. Probably intended mostly for marching or parade drum corps in those days. So, either these were purple ends that changed color over the last hundred years which is plausible, or they were factory custom color green ends, whichever it is they are original Gold Sticks.
I never in my life saw or held a pair of these. I can’t stress the rarity enough. The sticks and box are extremely fragile and every handling causes loss of paint or flaking of box. Regardless, I am beyond thrilled to add these to my collection.
Stay tuned...🥁
