I’ve endorsed Innovative Percussion Hickory Drum Sticks and used hundreds of them for years. Great drum set sticks. I also endorse the one pair of Crocken Drum Sticks that I own: the # 2 AF model made of Jatoba/ Brazilian Cherry (see above). Mr. Crocken makes unique hand crafted marching and concert sticks from very hard woods; persimmon, jacoba, and purple heart. No one else hand crafts sticks like these and nothing else feels like them. As Mr. Crocken says, they are fun to use. I use them when I play marching snare with the Beale Street Funeral Parade Band and I also use them every day for practicing snare drum rudiments and technique. I also encourage my students to get a pair of Crockens for practice. I’ve found that working with longer and heavier sticks like these helps students to learn how to control the weight of a stick when learning to play bounced doubles in particular. I also think they are very pretty sticks and look cool! Please check out John’s video about the meticulous process that he uses to craft these sticks.
