Not much news to report from me personally other than my new obsession with rare Gretsch Renown 57 drums. You know the ones; they come in red, blue and black 57 Chevy colors with a white chevron that is trimmed in chrome. I bought a 10” red tom online that was a good deal so now I’m looking for all the other sizes: 22 and 18 bass drums, 12, 14, 16 toms and the snare drum. Can’t buy them new - out of production limited series. If you know of any lurking sets or singles, please let me know. I’m usually not one to go crazy over finishes (too many years of owning drum shops: “yeah, yeah, I’ve seen it all”). But this one floats my boat and the Renowns sound great. Sooooo…I’m thinning my present herd a good bit and just going to use these 57s on the gigs and sessions since most of the locations where I play and record and teach have great house kits. I really don’t need all these drums. They are sitting in cases while somebody else could be using them. So, I am putting some of my personal drum sets up for sale: Gretsch USA Custom, Taye Parasonic, Kent, Remo PTS (yes, Remo Pre Tuned Drums). Contact me about those if you are interested before I list them online.
