I received this email from Eric this month. Nice job, Eric. I should warn you that this is how most drum builders start and it could lead to PGS: “permanent garage-dwelling syndrome”. :-)
“Just wanted to share about the stave drums I built for my son. He has been playing for 3 years. I hand built an entire drum set mostly from maple. The 24” kick is made of maple with mahogany accents. The shells were all hand built in my garage. The “show piece” is the snare made in a checker board pattern from maple and Purple Heart.
Thanks for your time,
Eric Olson”
