I became a vegetarian a little over a month ago, for good health reasons. A pescatarian actually, which means I eat plants and fish, but no red meat or poultry or dairy. I don’t miss steak or chicken, but I am going to miss turkey and gravy and dressing. Of course, there is tofurkey, but I’m too “chicken” to try that. To those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, enjoy your holiday, and may you sleep off the tryptophan in the turkey in a comfy recliner.
I have some pleasant personal news. I just started teaching at Memphis Drum Shop this month. I have known owner Jim Pettit and manager Bill Frazier for many years and am really proud to be instructing at such a prestigious drum shop. I’ve always said that Memphis Drum Shop is the most beautiful music store in America. I’ll be up amongst all of Jim’s vintage drum collection in his “museum” so I’ll feel right at home. If you are interested in studying with me, here is my private lessons page.
The donations to the Parumpapum Museum and Charity are starting to trickle in. Glenn Joel Hamilton donated a rare Paiste 18” early formula 602 ride cymbal, Stephen Brown is donating a Rolling Bomber kit among other drums, and I just acquired a 1948 Slingerland Radio King set for the museum. We are registered with the state as a non-profit and are waiting on our federal tax i.d. number. We just started the hunt for a building in Memphis TN. If you have instruments to donate or wish to make a monetary donation, please get in touch with me.
There will be a give away of some very nice instruments at DrumSellers.com in the near future. You will need to sign up there as a user to be eligible to win. We will send out a notice soon on the DrumSellers mailing list about how to enter the contest.
