Remembering John Barbata

Drummer John (Johny) Barbata, who played with The Turtles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Jefferson Starship passed away on May 8, 2024 – He was 79.

Collectively, John’s stellar recording career featured him on over 100 albums and twenty hit singles. Seven of those hits were with ‘The Turtles’ including ‘Happy Together’, ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ and ‘She’d Rather Be With Me’. Billboard magazine voted Happy Together as one of the top 50 singles of all time.

With Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young – John recorded six albums including ‘ Four Way Street’ which sold over five million copies.

As a member of Jefferson Starship he played on ‘Ride The Tiger, Miracles, Count On Me, and Run Away. In addition, John performed on Starship’s four million selling album ‘Red Octopus’.

Subsequently, In 2000 - Jefferson Starship was inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
