I’m looking for info and value on this four piece kit made by DW in Mexico at the Fender Plant in very good condition. This belongs to a friend of mine, Andy Wilhite, who has been playing guitar on different gigs with me for 6 years. 16" x 14" bass drum, 12" x 5" snare, 10" x 6" mounted tom, 13" x 9" floor tom, rail tom mount, cymbal L arm and shell mount, 4000 hi hat stand. 6 ply maple shells with no re-enforcing rings, same bearing edge as DW Collectors, silver sparkle wrap. I am looking to determine the years this particular model was manufactured, the original list price and any current comparable used sales prices. Please don't guess. I've searched online and there is a lot of info about DW products made in Mexico before the PDP line and most of it is contradictory. I'd like to hear from an authoritative source, perhaps a dealer. It’s for sale at DrumSellers.com .
This one has me stumped. I’m not an authority on DW even though I was a dealer since 1985 and bought one of the first kits made. I’m thinking this is one of the first, if not the first, badge of kits made in the Fender plant in Encenada Mexico. This kit sounds great. I like the fact that the shells do not have re-enforcing rings - they have a low fundamental note that belies the small size of the drums. So tuned low or high it works for rock or jazz.
condition: Everything is in great condition considering the kit is somewhere near 25 years old. The only apparent thing is the fading of the silver sparkle to ginger ale on one side of all the drums which means it was set up next to a window for a long time.
thanks, George
