Hi all,
Family portrait time here at Curotto Acres. Ludwig & Ludwig Super-Sensitives were around from 1929 to 1935-36. They do not appear in a Ludwig catalog past 1935 but I have heard of a few wood examples from the early 1940s.
1929 (ONLY) LUDWIG & LUDWIG 5 x 14 GOLD PLATED ENGRAVED 10 POINT FLORAL DeLUXE SUPER-SENSITIVE
1929 (ONLY) LUDWIG & LUDWIG 6.5 x 14 ENGRAVED 10 POINT FLORAL DeLUXE SUPER-SENSITIVE
1932- LUDWIG & LUDWIG 5 x 15 ENGRAVED 12 POINT FLORAL DeLUXE SUPER-SENSITIVE
(Tone controls were added in 1932, both of the 15” drums have tone controls)
1932- LUDWIG & LUDWIG 6.5 x 15 ENGRAVED 12 POINT FLORAL DeLUXE SUPER-SENSITIVE
1929 (ONLY) LUDWIG & LUDWIG 6.5 x 14 ENGRAVED 10 POINT FLORAL CHROME DeLUXE “DFS” SUPER-SENSITIVE
(This drum caused the factory to halt production while WFL Sr. located the people who were responsible for the added engraving “DFS” to the shell. The worker was allowed to keep the drum and later gave it to WFL II (Jr. at the time) where it remained in WFL II’s possession until he sold it to Harry Cangany. Harry eventually sold it to me. An interesting artifact from this drum is that the “Super-Sensitive” stamp is stamped on both sides of the bottom rim.)
1935 LUDWIG 5 x 14 CHROME/ENGRAVED ANNIVERSAY MODEL DeLUXE SUPER-SENSITIVE
(There are only about 5 of these 1935 Anniversary DeLuxes known at this time. This one is the only chrome Super-Sensitive of the 5.)
Enjoy!
