My cousin, Dean Stewart who lives in Alabama, is a drummer and vintage drum collector (yes, the disease runs in the family). He’s looking for a number of parts. He sent me a long list of most of his collection and parts he needs to complete some of the drums. I did not have a single thing that he needs, so decided to publish his list with his permission here on NotSoModernDrummer.com and on DrumSellers.com. Anyone can list a want ad on DrumSellers.com for free by the way. Please peruse his list and see if you have parts he might need or vice versa. You might just enjoy reading the list of his collection. You can strike up a conversation with him at DeanStewart3@hotmail.com
“George, this list is really old, but it includes a pretty up to date inventory of the Slingerland and Ludwig drum stuff I have, as I haven’t been able to spend any time on adding to it over the past several years. Most of the items are still needed. I don’t know how much this helps you, but if you are putting Slingerland and Ludwig lots together to sell, I will buy several, particularly if in a lot I can pick up a couple or more pieces on the list. I know some of this stuff like clamshell lever or three-point throw-off, or parts to one, are hard to find and pricey. I do have a complete three point throw-off or two plus several other parts to them. Only other thing I remember that is not listed are a pair of Ludwig 22” wood bass hoops with WMP inlay. I’ve been too cheap to pay $100, as I got used to picking up the entire bass drum for $50 out of a music shop’s vintage pile and renovating it. Those days are about gone. Anyway, I’ll take Slingerland and Ludwig lots, and whether I need some of the parts now or not, I probably will eventually. Have a bit of Rogers, Pearl, Premier, MIJ, but those kits need very few parts.
On a good note, I did finish my mancave/ music room where I can display/store vintage drums and vintage stereo gear, hang my African heads stateside critters, make a little music with my friends, plug in the lava lamps. Just need to get the house at Farview renovated so I can get back to decorating and moving in.”
