A pandemic, rioting in the streets, a snow storm across the South…what’s next? I predict plagues of locusts, raining of frogs, and an alien invasion. Will we have an easier year of it this time around? Not so far, but it will probably lighten up a bit. The economy is supposedly getting better which means more vintage and custom drums being bought and sold. YAY!
If you haven’t been to DrumSellers.com yet, you need to check it out. It is our sister site for buying, selling, trading, discussion, questions, and general drummer nerd-ness. Do any of you remember the classified ads and the White Paper section in the old print magazine going back to 1988? We resurrected that at DrumSellers. We welcome all retailers and manufacturers to list their new gear there. Stebal’s Drum Shop of Cleveland is the most recent retailer to join up and list his wares there. Welcome John Stebal.
If you want to find any NSMD digital articles, the Archives section of the website lists all articles on the site dating back to 2013. It’s link image is always sitting on the home page of NotSoModernDrummer.com https://www.notsomoderndrummer.com/#/archive-2. Even if you are not looking for anything in particular, it may be fun to scroll through the article titles to see if there is anything there that piques your curiosity.
Since February is the year’s shortest month, this is the shortest issue too! Several of our regular features like Drum History Podcast, Kelli Rae Tubb’s vintage videos and Sticky Wickets videos will have to wait until next month because I ran out of time!
I’ll be adding a Reader Submission link on the home page of the website. I encourage any and all of you to submit a short article about anything concerning drums that you are passionate about. If you can post pictures and write text on Facebook, you can write a piece for Not So Modern Drummer.
Until next month, George Lawrence
