Meytal is a common name in her birthplace of Israel. However, as a drummer, she is far from “common”.
The youngest of seven children, Meytal started playing drums at 18, when she was drafted into Israeli Defense Force. After serving for 2 years, she was released, and one year later, at the age of 21, she moved to Los Angeles where she attended the L.A. Music Academy.
In 2015, with the help of a crowdfunding campaign, Meytal was able to release her first album, “Alchemy” which peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. In 2016, she released “Alchemy Live” followed by “The Witness” in 2019, but none of those successes came easily. In the beginning Meytal struggled to get recognized in the cutthroat L.A. music scene. Her solution? Meytal would play along to her favorite heavy metal songs, videotape them, and post them on social media. She finally received the recognition she was seeking, and now is a major presence on the web.
Meytal Is a DW drums and Meinl cymbals endorsee. She also uses Vic Firth sticks and Evans heads.
