Once again, Rick Smith’s annual vintage and custom drum show at The Sphinx Shriners Center in Newington, Connecticut was a huge success.
Rick featured over forty dealers including: The Lawton Drum Company – Joe Montineri Custom Drums – The Drum Center of Portsmouth – NOMO Drum Protectors – CT Pro Percussion - Dynamic Percussion – Amedia Cymbals – Ottaviano Cymbals – 247 Drums - The Woodshed, and many other high quality dealers from around the country.
A large crowd of drummers and percussion enthusiasts were checking out the merchandise, while also enjoying the standing room only clinics by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Danny Seraphine, and legendary studio great, Kenny Aronoff. Danny spoke eloquently about his numerous years with Chicago, while answering lots of questions from the audience. Kenny gave us deep insights into the music business, studio work, and his 17 years with John Mellencamp. Both drummers gave informative presentations, which were warmly received by the audience.
Also present were Bill Ludwig III selling his new handcrafted WFL III Custom Snare Drums. Lennie DiMuzio’s daughter Therese was there with copies of Lennie’s, ‘Tales from the Cymbal Bag’. While Danny Seraphine was signing his book ‘Street Player’; Daniel Glass was selling his books and DVD’s. Bobby T Torello, and Chris Parker were also seen trying some things out. From the feedback I received from a number of attendees - everyone had a great time, and already looking forward to the 2017 Connecticut Vintage and Custom Drum Show.
